Job summary

Holt Engineering Ltd in Totton, Hampshire, is seeking an experienced CNC Miller Setter to join its busy machine shop on a full‑time basis. The role focuses on setting and operating CNC milling machines to support daily production with an emphasis on quality and efficiency.

The successful candidate will read engineering drawings, carry out basic programme edits, and perform inspections to ensure components meet specification; Mazak controls experience is preferred.

A well-established engineering manufacturer in Totton is looking to recruit an experienced CNC Miller Setter to support ongoing production within its busy machine shop. This is a hands‑on role focused on setting and operating CNC milling machines, ensuring efficient production and consistent component quality.

The role is best suited to someone who enjoys shop‑floor machining, keeping production running smoothly, and working within a stable and well‑organised engineering environment.

The Role

As a CNC Miller Setter, you will be responsible for setting and operating CNC milling machines to support day‑to‑day production requirements.

• Setting CNC milling machines for production runs.
• Operating CNC mills to produce components to specification.
• Making basic programme edits and offset adjustments where required.
• Carrying out inspection and quality checks on finished parts.
• Maintaining efficient machine performance during production.
• Keeping work areas clean, organised and safe.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a CNC Miller Setter or similar CNC milling role.
• Experience setting and operating CNC milling machines.
• Familiarity with Mazak controls.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Understanding of machining tolerances and processes.
• Reliable, hands‑on and proactive working approach.
• Multi-axis experience would be an advantage but not essential.
