Job summary

ROC Engineering in Queniborough, Leicestershire, is seeking a motivated CNC Miller Setter/Operator to join our manufacturing team. You will set up, program, and operate CNC milling machines to produce precision components in a fast-paced environment.

You will interpret engineering drawings, adjust tooling and parameters, perform inspections with basic measuring tools, and support grinding or welding as needed while maintaining clean, safe working practices.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating and setting up CNC milling machines in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks) and CAM tooling for toolpath generation.
• Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and adjustments during machining.
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
• Welding or grinding experience is advantageous but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Set up CNC milling machines by installing tooling, fixtures, and workpieces per specifications.
• Program CNC machines using CAD/CAM software, including SolidWorks for design interpretation.

In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC milling machines to produce precision components. Responsibilities:

• Set up CNC milling machines by installing tooling, fixtures, and workpieces according to specifications.
• Program CNC machines using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software, including SolidWorks for design interpretation.
• Operate CNC mills to produce parts with high precision, adhering to detailed engineering drawings and technical requirements.
• Conduct routine inspections of machined parts using hand tools, gauges, and measurement devices to ensure quality standards are met.
• Adjust machine parameters and tooling as needed to optimize performance and maintain tight tolerances.
• Perform basic maintenance on CNC equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
• Support additional manufacturing processes such as grinding, welding, or assembly when required, especially in plastics injection molding applications.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience operating and setting up CNC milling machines in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks and CAM programming tools for toolpath generation.

• Knowledge of tooling selection, setup procedures, and tool wear management.
• Experience working with hand tools, power tools, and various hand-held measuring instruments.
• Ability to perform welding or grinding tasks is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
