Job summary

Anne Corder Recruitment is seeking an experienced CNC Milling Setter/Operator in Northampton to set up and run 3-axis and 5-axis milling machines, delivering high-tolerance components for advanced powertrain systems.

You will work with Matsuura and Mazak equipment, interpreting drawings and GD&T while maintaining tight tolerances. The role requires independent work and strong team collaboration within a precision engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience setting and operating CNC milling machinery in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience with 5-axis CNC machine tools.
• Experience with 3-axis milling is beneficial.
• Experience with Matsuura machines and Fanuc controls; Mazak/Mazatrol is advantageous.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T and tight tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Setting and operating 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce precision components.
• Operating advanced CNC machinery including Matsuura and Mazak machines.
• Setting up components and machining processes to meet production requirements and quality standards.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and working to tight tolerances and GD&T requirements.
• Supporting problem-solving and identifying improvements to tooling and processes.
• Collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering to optimize setup, tooling and manufacturing methods.

CNC 5-Axis Milling Setter/Operator - Northampton - up to £45k plus overtime

Are you an experienced CNC Milling Setter/Operator looking for the opportunity to work with advanced 5-axis machinery within a highly technical engineering environment? This could be an excellent opportunity to join a growing manufacturing team working on complex, high-precision components.

This CNC Milling Setter/Operator role is part of an established and highly technical manufacturing environment, working within a business specialising in the design, development and manufacture of advanced powertrain systems and components for the automotive, motorsport and marine sectors.

The role will involve setting and operating advanced 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machinery, producing high-quality, tight-tolerance components while working closely with the wider manufacturing and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Setting and operating 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce precision components
• Operating advanced CNC machinery including Matsuura and Mazak machines
• Setting up components and machining processes to ensure production requirements and quality standards are consistently achieved
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and working to tight tolerances and GD&T requirements
• Supporting technical problem-solving and identifying opportunities to improve tooling, machining methods and production processes
• Working closely with Manufacturing Engineering and other members of the machine shop to improve setup conditions, tooling and methods of manufacture

Requirements

• Proven experience setting and operating CNC milling machinery within a precision manufacturing environment
• Strong experience working with 5-axis CNC machine tools
• Experience working with 3-axis milling machinery would also be beneficial
• Experience with Matsuura machines and Fanuc controls is highly desirable, with Mazak/Mazatrol experience advantageous
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T and tight-tolerance manufacturing
• Experience producing complex, high-precision components, ideally within automotive, aerospace, motorsport or a similar precision engineering environment
• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider machine shop team

This CNC 5-Axis Milling Setter/Operator position would suit an experienced CNC Miller or Setter/Operator who enjoys working with advanced machinery, producing technically challenging components and solving problems on the shop floor.
