Job summary

Syntech Recruitment are partnering with a highly regarded precision engineering manufacturer to recruit an experienced CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator. You will program, set and operate CNC milling machines safely and efficiently, producing precision components from engineering drawings and specifications.

Proficient in 3-, 4- and 5-axis machining with online programming on Heidenhain controls, you will create setup sheets, inspect own work, and maintain tight tolerances around 20

Qualifications

• Previous experience programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines.
• Strong Heidenhain control experience is essential.
• Experience with 3, 4 and 5-axis machining.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience producing components to tight tolerances.
• Competent using measuring and inspection equipment.
• Previous experience with Doosan, Matsuura or Mazak machinery advantageous.
• Experience machining large components beneficial.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Positive attitude with excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Apprenticeship-trained engineer preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Program, set and operate CNC milling machines safely and efficiently.
• Produce precision-machined components from engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Programme and machine complex parts on 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC milling machines.
• Create setup sheets and tooling documentation to ensure repeatable manufacturing processes.
• Carry out online programming using Heidenhain controls.
• Inspect and verify own work using a range of measuring equipment.
• Manufacture components to tight tolerances, typically around 20 microns.
• Machine large-scale components up to approximately 2.5 metres in size.
• Support colleagues through knowledge sharing and training where required.
• Maintain a safe, organised and efficient working environment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
• Ensure quality standards are achieved through a right-first-time approach.
