Job summary

Inception pro recruitment is recruiting a Junior CNC Machinist for a manufacturing engineering company based in New Addington, Croydon. This role offers a salary up to £30,000 and a 37.5 hour week.

You will gain hands-on experience in CNC turning and milling, with training provided to develop into a Programmer/Setter/Operator, working with Siemens ShopMill or Heidenhain controls and learning to read drawings to tight tolerances.

Qualifications

• You will ideally have an engineering/manufacturing qualification or apprenticeship and some practical workshop experience.
• Willingness to learn CNC machining and develop skills in turning and milling.
• Comfortable reading basic engineering drawings and working to tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Operate and assist with setting CNC turning and milling machines.
• Load and adjust CNC programmes as needed.
• Develop knowledge of tooling, feeds and machining processes.
• Read drawings, use precision measuring tools and perform first-off inspections.
• Maintain safety and housekeeping standards.

Manufacturing engineering company based in New Addington, Croydon. (Please note we are based within ULEZ.)

SALARY

Up to £30,000 a year

WORKING HOURS

37.5hrs/week; Monday-Thursday 7am-15.30 pm and Friday 7am-12.30pm

We are looking for a Junior CNC Machinist to join our Engineering Services team and develop a career in precision manufacturing.

CNC experience is desirable but not essential - training and development will be provided. This is a great opportunity to build a long-term career towards becoming a fully competent CNC Programmer, Setter and Operator, with experience across both turning and milling.

Working alongside experienced machinists and engineers, you will gain hands-on experience in CNC turning and milling, developing your skills in machine setting, programming, operation and inspection.

Role Responsibilities

• Operate and assist with setting CNC turning and milling machines.
• Load and make basic adjustments to CNC programmes.
• Develop skills in Siemens ShopMill, Heidenhain or similar controls.
• Read engineering drawings and work to specified tolerances.
• Use verniers, micrometers and other precision measuring equipment.
• Assist with first-off inspections and quality checks.
• Develop knowledge of tooling, cutting speeds, feeds and machining processes.
• Work safely and maintain high standards of quality and housekeeping.

About You

You will ideally have a relevant engineering/manufacturing qualification or apprenticeship and some practical workshop or manufacturing experience.
