Job summary

Masstemps is currently seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to join a busy manufacturing operation near the Walsall area. You will set and operate Star CNC lathes, prepare tooling and offsets, and read engineering drawings to tight tolerances.

You will perform first-off and in-process inspections with micrometers and verniers, adjust tooling to maintain quality, and monitor production performance. Monday–Friday, 13:30–22:00, £13–£15 per hour.

Qualifications

• Previous CNC setter/operator experience in manufacturing/engineering.
• Experience operating CNC lathes is essential.
• Experience setting tooling, offsets, workholding and machine parameters.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers and gauges.

Responsibilities

• Complete production paperwork and traceability records.
• Work to health & safety and quality procedures.
• Assist with HAAS and Dugard machining centres when required.
• Support other operators and maintain an efficient production area.

THE JOB:

• Set and operate Star CNC lathes to manufacture components to drawing and job specifications.
• Set tooling, work holding, offsets and machine parameters for different production runs.
• Operate CNC machines safely and efficiently, ensuring production output meets the build plan and required targets.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and job specifications.
• Carry out first-off and in-process inspections using micrometres, verniers and other measuring equipment.
• Make tooling and offset adjustments to maintain component quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Monitor machine performance and identify issues affecting production, quality or cycle times.
• Change tools and make adjustments as required to maintain consistent production.
• Complete production paperwork, quality checks and traceability records.
• Work to company health & safety and quality procedures at all times.
• Assist with setting and operating HAAS and Dugard machining centres where required.
• Support other operators and contribute to maintaining an efficient production area.

ABOUT YOU:

• Previous experience as a CNC Setter/Operator within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Experience operating CNC Lathes is essential.
• Experience setting tooling, offsets, workholding and machine parameters.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers and gauges.
• Ability to make basic tooling and offset adjustments to maintain component quality.
• Experience working to production targets and build plans.
• Knowledge of HAAS and/or Dugard machining centres would be desirable.
• Good understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling and cutting conditions.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and quality.

Monday - Friday

13:30pm - 22:00pm

Pay Rate

£13 - 15ph
