Job summary

Manpower UK is seeking a CNC Grinder for weekend night shifts in Yeovil. You will operate external CNC grinding equipment to produce aerospace components to tight tolerances, on a 36-hour week (3 x 12 hour shifts: Fri–Sun, 19:00–07:00).

The role emphasizes precision, safety, and timely delivery in a lean environment. Experience with hand measuring tools and reading drawings is required, along with a strong commitment to quality and health & safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate external CNC grinding machinery using MDI (Manual Data Input).
• Perform surface and thread grinding per instructions and specs.
• Interpret engineering drawings and follow process documentation.
• Meet tight aerospace tolerances and surface finish requirements.
• Complete OCQ checks and stamping to confirm quality.
• Maintain high Health & Safety standards in a lean environment.
• Support on-time delivery and customer-focused culture.

CNC Grinder (External Grinding) - Weekend Night Shift

Location: Yeovil (UK26) Hours: 36 hours per week (3 x 12 hour shifts), Friday-Sunday 19:00-07:00 Pay: £16.13-£24.20

What you'll be doing:

• Operate external CNC grinding machinery using MDI (Manual Data Input)
• Perform surface grinding and thread grinding in line with Manufacturing Instructions, specifications and customer/regulator requirements
• Interpret engineering drawings and follow process layout/documentation procedures
• Deliver to tight aerospace tolerances and surface finish requirements
• Complete OCQ (Operator Control of Quality) checks (including stamping to confirm quality to Honeywell and customer standards)
• Work effectively in a lean environment to support on-time delivery
• Maintain consistently high standards of Health & Safety
• Contribute to a customer-focused culture and achieve production targets

What you'll bring:

• Knowledge of grinding tolerances/finishes to aerospace standards (including very fine diameter tolerances and micro-inch surface finishes)
• Experience using hand measuring equipment such as digital micrometers, comparators, air plug gauges and surface finish measuring tools
• A strong understanding of safety-critical aerospace manufacturing and why quality is non-negotiable
• PC literacy to use company systems and follow procedures
• A team-first attitude, flexibility, and the initiative to keep work moving

• Training and development will be provided for areas such as PC skills (incl. company operating system), Manual Handling, Abrasive Wheels, 5S, HOS principles, and general Health & Safety
