Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Sr Manager of Software Engineering in London to lead a high-performing squad within the Cloud Platform Engineering team. You will bridge technical strategy with business goals, grow engineering talent, and drive a culture of inclusion while delivering scalable enterprise solutions.

You will set technical roadmaps, uphold coding standards, and oversee end-to-end platform delivery, ensuring reliability and security.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience; proven ability to lead technologists
• Proven people-management or team-lead experience with coaching engineers
• Strong background in software engineering, including system design, cloud native systems, and Kubernetes
• Ability to guide technical decisions and evaluate designs across complex distributed systems
• Experience managing complex technical delivery in an agile environment
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to translate business objectives into team-level tasks and priorities
• Experience managing production systems, including incident response and reliability engineering
• Experience leading multi-team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and delivery tools, including governance/ways of working and outcomes measurement
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, data sensitivity considerations, resiliency/security implications

Responsibilities

• Provide direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of software engineers
• Oversee end-to-end delivery of platform initiatives and translate requirements into roadmaps
• Drive engineering standards, code quality, release processes, and scalable infrastructure
• Partner with senior leadership to set long-term technical vision and align with business outcomes
• Champion a you-build-it-you-run-it culture, oversee incident response and automation opportunities
• Ensure collaboration across teams and stakeholders; drive architectural trade-offs
• Identify and mitigate risks to deliver a book of work; contribute to communities of practice
• Scale operating practices for AI-assisted engineering and SDLC automation across teams
• Apply SDLC toolchain knowledge to drive efficiency and capacity unlock initiatives
