Job summary

We are recruiting substantively into a Band 7 Clinical role on Castle Ward.

Caring for our most acutely ill patients on our wards is a role of utmost importance and a crucial part of the Trust's mental health support services. The contributions of our staff in these areas are invaluable and cannot be overstated.

We are excited to announce an opportunity to join Castle Ward, a 19-bed female acute ward for adults experiencing mental health issues. Castle Ward is a 24-hour facility that serves working-age women (18-65) who are facing acute mental health challenges.

As a Clinical lead , you will need to exhibit strong leadership skills Being curious, creative, self-aware, and assertive are essential qualification.

The postholder will need to:

  • Demonstrate a good knowledge of the operation and functioning of an acute ward
  • Be a team player and work well with colleagues both internally and externally to the service and effectively communicate not only within LPFT but with the wider healthcare system.
  • Be motivated to deliver outstanding clinical care to our patients and lead the team with their clinical interventions, formulations, and treatment plans.
  • Work closely with the Ward Manager, Modern Matron, and Service Manager to continue to offer excellent care for our patients
Main duties of the job

The role supports the high levels of Acuity and increased numbers of complex presentations being supported within LPFT's acute wards. The post provides clinical oversite on their assigned wards, improves clinical outcomes for patients and provides support to ward managers. Band 7 clinical leads have become a relied upon resource within LPFT's acute wards, their responsibilities is as follows:
  • Management of complex safeguarding issues with direction from the trusts safeguarding team.
  • Role modelling for the team
  • Implementation of learning from serious investigation.
  • Deputise for Ward Manager in their absence.
  • To ensure that services are delivered to maximise patient safety.
  • Contribute to performance improvement such as managerial & clinical supervision.
  • Implementation of new working practices to improve patient outcomes.
  • Leading and supporting the team with complex cases
  • To drive changes within services that benefit patients, carers and/or staff
