Job description

Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust, Police Custody Healthcare, Clinical Team Manager.

Are you ready to make a meaningful difference in healthcare while leading a dynamic team in a unique environment?

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Clinical Team Manager to oversee and deliver high-quality healthcare services within police custody settings. This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and a passion for ensuring patient care in diverse and demanding circumstances.

About the Role:

As the Clinical Team Manager, you will integrate operational leadership with hands-on clinical duties, ensuring outstanding care for individuals in police custody. This full-time role involves 7.5-hour shifts across 7 days, supporting a fast-paced service. Success requires flexibility, adaptability, and responsiveness to evolving demands in a challenging environment.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Leadership and Management:
  • Leading a team of healthcare professionals, including nurses and paramedics.
  • Overseeing clinical operations, ensuring compliance with NHS and Police standards.
  • Supporting recruitment, training, and professional development of staff.
  • Managing resources, rotas, and service delivery to maintain high standards of care.
  • Liaising with police, commissioners, and other stakeholders to enhance service outcomes.
  • Clinical Work:
    • Providing hands-on clinical care, including assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and referrals for individuals in police custody.
    • Delivering care for physical and mental health conditions, including substance misuse and acute injuries.
    • Acting as a clinical role model and providing direct supervision to team members.
    • Ensuring accurate record-keeping and documentation in line with legal and professional standards.

Experience working with vulnerable groups and/or in a health and justice setting is essential. A strong sense of leadership and leading by example to uphold the Trust values and behaviours is required. We actively promote ongoing professional development within the service.

This role requires full police vetting, and it is essential that you can travel independently across the area and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes.
