Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is hiring a Healthcare Support Worker to assist in patient care within a ward environment. You will work to support a registered nurse, undertaking hygiene, admission/discharge tasks and routine specimen collection.

You will monitor vitals, assist mobility and coordinate with the team to ensure safe and effective patient care, reporting changes as needed and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• SVQ III in healthcare or equivalent experience in a caring environment.
• Ability to work with people as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform assigned patient care tasks in a busy setting.
• Ability to work unsupervised and participate in CPD.
• Working knowledge of basic information technology.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of patients for procedures and with admission, transfer, and discharge.
• Assist in collecting routine specimens and monitor supplies.
• Provide escort duties and maintain hygiene, order and safety.
• Record patient vital signs and report to registered staff.
• Support rehabilitation and communicate changes in patient needs.
