Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a Health Care Support Worker (Band 3) for the Outpatient and Pre-Operative Assessment team at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. You will support Registered Nurses, assist with daily living activities, and help maintain accurate patient records in a busy clinical setting.

The role emphasizes compassionate, patient-focused care, independence in workload management, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Completed NICHE programme or SVQ Level 3 in a relevant healthcare discipline.
• Experience in outpatient or healthcare environment.
• Caring, compassionate and patient-focused approach.
• Ability to prioritise workload and work independently.
• Strong verbal and written communication and good numeracy.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary team in a busy clinical setting.
• Confident using clinical systems and maintaining records.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care in support of Registered Nurses.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living while promoting dignity and wellbeing.
• Record and report patient observations accurately; maintain records.
• Recognise and report changes in patient condition to senior nursing staff.
• Maintain a safe, clean and supportive environment for patients and colleagues.
• Support management of resources, equipment and supplies within the department.
• Develop positive relationships with patients, relatives and the MDT.
