Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust in Poole seeks a Band 7 HCPC registered Clinical Scientist to join the Radiotherapy Physics team. You’ll support treatment planning, QA, dosimetry and brachytherapy across Poole Hospital, with a satellite site in Dorchester.

The role involves project work and training staff, with interviews in person. Base location is Poole Hospital; STP training pathways may be available and relocation in line with Trust policy.

Qualifications

• Expecting to complete Radiotherapy Physics STP within 12 months.
• Good (1st or 2nd class) Honours degree in Physics or other relevant subject.
• HCPC registration as a clinical scientist or working to achieve this within the next 12 months on an accredited training scheme.
• Clinical experience working under IR(ME)R17 and IRR legislation.

Responsibilities

• To participate in the provision and development of all aspects of the Radiotherapy Physics service.
• Carry out audits, investigations and report findings.
• On-going quality control and calibration of radiotherapy equipment.
• Routine radiotherapy treatment planning service delivery.
• Brachytherapy (HDR gynae, HDR prostate, Iodine seed) treatments.
• Commissioning and clinical application of new radiotherapy equipment/techniques.
• Project work developing the service and training STP/PTP trainees.

1st/2:1 Honours degree in Physics

HCPC registration or in training

IR(ME)R17/IRR experience
