Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to lead the Therapy Team in the South West locality. You will provide clinical leadership, manage operations, and drive safe, timely discharge for older people in the community, collaborating with acute, community and social care partners.

HCPC registered, with Band 6 level experience, and supervision/line-management skills are essential. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work are required.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification at degree level or equivalent.
• HCPC registration as an occupational therapist.
• Specialist knowledge and clinical expertise in adult care or rehabilitation.
• Previous experience as a Band 6 or equivalent.
• Experience of supervising other staff alongside your own caseload.
• Experience of line managing staff.

Responsibilities

• Act as the central point of contact for expert knowledge and information for the MDT, patients, families and carers.
• Work with the MDT and partners to remove barriers, solve problems and ensure safe, timely discharge.
• Provide clinical leadership to the Therapy Team in the South West locality.
• Manage the operational running of the team and support colleagues’ professional and clinical development.
• Motivate and support a multidisciplinary team to achieve good outcomes.
• Influence service delivery and shape the rehabilitation journey of older people across the community.
• Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of current processes and challenges in this area.
• Apply understanding of safeguarding, the Mental Capacity Act and continuing care criteria.
• Progress patients’ rehabilitation through to discharge.
