About the role

Major Social Care is looking for an experienced and motivated Clinical Lead who is also a Registered General Nurse (RGN) to lead the development and delivery of our regulated care services for children, young people and adults.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development of a growing care service, helping to establish strong operational and clinical foundations from the outset.

The Registered Manager will hold day-to-day responsibility for the safe, effective and compliant delivery of regulated services and will work closely with the Director and Nominated Individual, Strategic Lead and wider leadership team to ensure that quality, safeguarding, clinical governance and regulatory compliance remain central to service delivery and growth.

As a Registered Nurse, you will also provide clinical leadership and oversight for people with more complex health and care needs, supporting the organisation’s ability to safely deliver both Personal Care and, within its registered scope, Treatment of Disease, Disorder or Injury (TDDI).

The service will support both adults and children within their own homes and community settings, including individuals with complex and specialist care needs.

Key responsibilities
Registered Manager leadership
  • Hold responsibility for the day-to-day management of the CQC-regulated service.
  • Lead the service in accordance with CQC regulations, the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and associated regulations and guidance.
  • Ensure the service consistently works towards and evidences the CQC fundamental standards and quality statements.
  • Maintain effective systems for governance, quality assurance, audit and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure safe systems are in place for referrals, assessments, care planning, risk assessment, mobilisation, review and discharge.
  • Ensure people receive safe, person-centred and outcomes-focused care.
  • Maintain effective oversight of incidents, accidents, complaints, safeguarding concerns and lessons learned.
  • Ensure statutory notifications and regulatory reporting requirements are completed appropriately.
  • Work collaboratively with commissioners, healthcare professionals, local authorities, families and other partner agencies.
  • Contribute to business development while ensuring growth does not exceed operational, workforce or clinical capacity.
Clinical leadership
  • Provide professional nursing leadership and clinical oversight across adult and children’s services.
  • Support the assessment and management of people with complex healthcare needs.
  • Ensure clinical interventions are supported by appropriate assessment, care planning, risk management and professional oversight.
  • Establish clear clinical governance arrangements for care delivered under TDDI.
  • Provide professional advice regarding clinical risk, deterioration, escalation and appropriate healthcare involvement.
  • Support the development of clinical policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Ensure delegated healthcare tasks are appropriately assessed, authorised and monitored.
  • Establish competency frameworks for specialist and clinical tasks.
  • Assess and sign off staff competencies where this falls within the postholder’s professional scope of practice.
  • Maintain safe systems for medicines management and clinical monitoring.
  • Support safe provision of areas such as epilepsy care, enteral feeding, complex medication support, long-term health conditions and other specialist interventions where these fall within the organisation’s approved scope and staff competence.
  • Ensure clinical decisions remain evidence-based, person-centred and within professional and organisational boundaries.
  • Ensure children’s services reflect the individual needs, developmental stage and communication needs of each child or young person.
  • Promote child-centred practice and ensure children’s voices, wishes and feelings are considered within their care.
  • Maintain effective safeguarding systems for children and young people.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers, education providers, social workers, healthcare professionals and other agencies.
  • Ensure care arrangements consider transitions between children’s and adult services where appropriate.
  • Support the safe delivery of complex care packages for children and young people within the organisation’s scope of registration and competence.
Adult services
  • Ensure adults receive person-centred care that promotes independence, choice, dignity and control.
  • Ensure the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 are embedded within assessment and care delivery.
  • Maintain effective safeguarding arrangements for adults at risk.
  • Support adults with a range of needs including physical disabilities, neurological conditions, acquired brain injury, long-term health conditions and complex healthcare needs where appropriate to the service.
  • Ensure people’s changing needs are identified promptly and care packages are reviewed accordingly.
Workforce and competency
  • Ensure staff only undertake duties for which they are appropriately trained and competent.
  • Oversee clinical and specialist competency assessment arrangements.
  • Identify training and development requirements from incidents, audits, care needs and service development.
