Job summary

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant ONC/NHC or equivalent knowledge and experience or working towards that level.
  • Be prepared to work towards registration as a Clinical Technician
Desirable criteria
  • Registered as a Clinical Technician
Experience

Essential criteria
  • Practical experience in engineering workshop practices and techniques, which includes practice in preventative maintenance, servicing, inspection, repair, calibration, quality control, safety and acceptance testing.
  • Experienced in the use of precision test equipment with the skills to interpret and analyse results.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in applying workshop technology to patient-critical equipment and techniques in healthcare.
  • Specialist training on the maintenance and repair of a range of medical devices would be desirable
  • Good level of understanding of patient and staff risks arising from equipment use and failure
Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of electrical and electronic engineering of electronic workshop practice and computer systems
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of medical electronics, electro-mechanical systems, computing and medical device support.
  • Knowledge of medical device operation and management.
Other

Essential criteria
  • Able to prioritise and manage own work
  • Able to exercise own initiative when dealing with issues within own specialist area of competence
  • Capable of working without close supervision
  • Full UK driving Licence
Desirable criteria
  • Maintain a flexible approach to changes in working practices and accept change readily
