Job summary

Mountaineering Scotland seeks a part-time Competition Officer to drive the ClimbScotland competition programme, coordinating with walls, route setters, and volunteers. You will help build a national events calendar and collaborate with partner bodies to grow opportunities for climbers in Scotland.

The role requires strong IT, social media, copywriting and communication skills, plus a proactive, collaborative approach and willingness to travel and work evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience of event organisation and delivery (essential).
• Must understand competition rules and scoring systems (desirable).
• Ability to manage and supervise a volunteer workforce (essential).
• Excellent IT and social media skills to promote ClimbScotland activities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the Scottish competition programme across venues, coordinating wall managers, route setters, and volunteers.
• Collaborate with Mountaineering Scotland, BMC, and international Federations to calendar competitions.
• Grow a volunteer culture from fun comps to National events and provide training incentives.
• Provide copy and visual content for ClimbScotland media and website on a regular basis.
