Job summary

Met Office in Exeter offers a 12-month Year in Industry placement starting July 2027. You will develop skills in climate modelling, data analysis and workflow development while collaborating with an established team of scientists.

The role supports hybrid working and requires attendance in the office at least once a week. The package includes a fixed salary and generous leave, with potential progression opportunities after graduation.

Qualifications

• Experience analyzing climate or environmental data using Python.
• Degree in a scientific or computational field such as mathematics, physics, computer science, data science, atmospheric science or related subject.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to colleagues in writing and presentations.
• Willingness to learn new scientific or technical skills and adapt methods.

Responsibilities

• Develop and test updated workflows for running and analysing climate models.
• Improve or replace tools to monitor model evolution.
• Adapt existing analysis and visualization workflows to new mesh and two-way ocean zooms.
• Analyze new simulations for Razorege and compare with CMIP7 high-resolution runs.
