Job summary

The Met Office is pleased to offer a 12-month Year in Industry Industrial Placement in Software Engineering for Next Generation Regional Modelling, starting July 2027. This placement gives you hands-on experience and the chance to contribute to real projects within our modelling teams.

You will work up to 37 hours per week, with the role potentially hybrid, attending the office at least once a week. You will be part of a cohort of undergraduates gaining valuable industry exposure.

Qualifications

• An interest in applying software engineering to scientific or numerical problems.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and testing of regional LFRic modelling infrastructure.
• Work alongside Met Office scientists and software engineers to deliver a self-contained project within our regional modelling infrastructure.
