Job description

Linklaters

Linklaters is a global law firm, providing legal services in 20 countries and through 30 offices.

Linklaters is a people business. Being best in class in the eyes of our clients means that our people must be exceptional.

We look not only for brilliant minds, but for people who will thrive in our environment: people who love working collaboratively and demonstrate the innovative, efficient, agile, entrepreneurial, and responsible mind-set we aim to bring to every interaction.

Ours is an environment of outperformance. We achieve this not with targets and incentives, but by fostering a positive, supportive, fair, and open atmosphere.

We respect and value difference but insist on inclusivity. We celebrate all aspects of diversity and challenge any form of bias. This is vital to our ability to work as one team, with a common goal.

Your role

As Senior Client Systems Product Owner, you will support the Lead Product Owner in shaping and delivering a subset of the Firm’s Client Systems product portfolio. This may include one or more of the Firm’s digital and client-facing products, such as Linklaters.com, client communications and event management products, experience management products, and pitch tool products. You will be responsible for managing product backlog priorities, translating business needs into clear deliverables, and ensuring product development aligns with the Firm’s strategic objectives, user needs, and enterprise standards.

  • Support the Lead Product Owner in defining and delivering the product strategy and roadmap for a subset of the Client Systems portfolio.

  • Own and manage the product backlog for assigned products, ensuring priorities are clear, well-structured, and aligned to business value, strategic goals, and delivery capacity.

  • Work closely with Business Owners and stakeholders to understand business needs, capture requirements, and translate these into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.

  • Curate and manage priorities across competing demands, balancing strategic initiatives, business-as-usual activity, technical improvements, and risk reduction.

  • Partner with the Lead Product Owner and Head of Enterprise Systems to support portfolio-level prioritisation, planning, and decision-making.

  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, architects, developers, and third-party vendors to ensure solutions are well understood, feasible, and delivered effectively.

  • Act as a key point of contact for assigned products, building strong relationships with stakeholders and providing clear communication on priorities, progress, risks, and outcomes.

  • Support the delivery lifecycle from discovery through implementation and transition into service, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose and meet agreed objectives.

  • Work with the Enterprise Systems Service Owners to monitor product performance, user feedback, and service data to identify opportunities for enhancement, optimisation, and continuous improvement.

  • Promote product management best practice, including user-centred design, value-driven prioritisation, backlog hygiene, and effective stakeholder engagement.

  • Help ensure products remain aligned with the Firm’s wider technology strategy, governance requirements, and enterprise architecture standards.

  • Contribute to the development of a strong product culture within Client Systems, with a focus on quality, collaboration, transparency, and delivering measurable business value.

About you
  • Proven experience in a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role within a technology-led environment, with responsibility for translating business needs into prioritised product outcomes.

  • Practical experience of managing and refining product backlogs, defining user stories and acceptance criteria, and supporting delivery teams through agile ways of working.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work closely with Business Owners, senior business stakeholders, technology teams, and third-party suppliers to agree priorities and drive delivery.

  • Experience of balancing competing demands across strategic initiatives, business-as-usual support, technical improvements, and risk or control requirements.

  • Strong commercial and strategic judgement, with the ability to prioritise work based on business value, user needs, dependencies, effort, and organisational objectives.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain product priorities, delivery trade-offs, and outcomes clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior stakeholders.

  • Experience of working within cross-functional product or project teams, partnering with Business Analysts, developers, architects, designers, and service teams to deliver effective solutions.

  • A structured and pragmatic approach to problem solving, with the ability to remain calm, objective, and delivery-focused when managing changing priorities or complex issues.

  • Good understanding of agile delivery principles, product management practices, and the wider system delivery lifecycle, from discovery through to implementation and ongoing service improvement.

  • Experience of digital, client-facing, or business development-related platforms would be advantageous, particularly websites, communication tools, event management products, experience management platforms, or pitch and proposal tools.

  • Experience of working in a professional services, partnership, or other complex international organisation would be beneficial.

  • A strong focus on continuous improvement, with the curiosity and drive to identify opportunities to enhance products, processes, and user experience over time.
