Job summary

Joshua Robert Recruitment is representing a confidential private property investment and development organisation seeking a commercially minded Building Surveyor / Project Manager to join its in‑house property team. You will own delivery on a varied portfolio of development, refurbishment and extension projects across the UK and beyond, with oversight from feasibility through to handover.

Qualifications

• Strong practical knowledge of construction methods and build quality.
• Experience coordinating contractors, consultants and authorities.
• Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings and reports.
• Proven track record in delivering multi‑phase development projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage residential development, refurbishment and extension projects from feasibility and design through to completion and handover.
• Prepare and maintain project programmes, budgets, scopes of work and delivery plans.
• Monitor site works, contractor performance, workmanship, productivity, quality, programme and costs.
• Coordinate architects, structural engineers, contractors, specialist consultants and statutory authorities.
• Lead and contribute to design, progress and site meetings.
• Produce clear reporting covering project progress, costs, risks, quality, decisions and recommended actions.
• Review and interrogate drawings, specifications, consultant reports, schedules and contract documentation.
• Use CAD software to review, amend and produce technical drawings, layouts and construction details where required.
• Identify design and construction risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
• Undertake building inspections, diagnose defects and recommend practical remedial solutions.
• Manage snagging, defects and completion processes through to full project close‑out.
• Ensure works comply with Building Regulations, planning requirements and health and safety rules.
• Provide commercially focused advice to internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support wider financial, operational and asset management objectives.
