Job summary

Cathedral Appointments is recruiting a Payroll Administrator on behalf of a well-established professional services firm to join its payroll team in Torquay. The role owns a portfolio of client payrolls, ensuring all processing is accurate and delivered on time.

The successful candidate will manage client relationships, onboard new payrolls, and liaise with HMRC while staying up to date with payroll legislation. Hybrid working after probation is offered, with initial on-site training.

Qualifications

• Payroll experience, with a strong working knowledge of payroll legislation.
• Experience managing a portfolio of clients or payrolls effectively
• Excellent client service skills and a polite, professional manner
• A high level of accuracy and numeracy, with a methodical, organised approach
• The ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines
• Good IT skills, including confidence with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel

Responsibilities

• Process a varied range of client payrolls accurately and on time, as part of a supportive team
• Manage your own portfolio of clients, acting as their main point of contact and prioritising work to meet agreed deadlines
• Onboard new client payrolls, checking data is accurate and identifying ways to make processes more efficient
• Liaise with HMRC on employer payments and payroll-related queries
• Keep up to date with payroll legislation and apply changes correctly
• Respond to client queries promptly, accurately and within agreed timescales
