Clerk of Works / NEC Supervisor

Turner Property Recruitment are seeking an experienced Clerk of Works / NEC Supervisor to join a leading multidisciplinary property consultancy in Sheffield.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional to play an important role in monitoring projects on behalf of clients, ensuring works are completed in accordance with the contract, drawings, specifications and required quality standards.
As Clerk of Works / NEC Supervisor, you will regularly attend construction sites to inspect workmanship, monitor quality and identify any defects or non-compliant works.
You will work closely with contractors, consultants and client teams, providing clear records and reports throughout the construction process.
Your responsibilities will include:
Undertaking regular inspections of construction works on site
Monitoring workmanship, materials and compliance with project specifications
Identifying and reporting defects, quality concerns and non-compliant works
Maintaining accurate inspection records and preparing detailed site reports
Monitoring the progress and completion of remedial works
Attending site meetings and wider project meetings
Liaising with contractors, consultants and client representatives
Undertaking NEC Supervisor duties, including witnessing tests and notifying Defects
Supporting snagging, practical completion and project handover
You will ideally have:
Previous experience as a Clerk of Works, NEC Supervisor or within a similar construction or site inspection role
A strong technical understanding of building construction
The ability to confidently interpret drawings, specifications and contract information
Experience working with NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts
Excellent attention to detail and strong written reporting skills
A relevant construction qualification or professional membership
The following qualifications would be particularly advantageous:
NEC4 Supervisor accreditation
Membership of the Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate, ideally MICWCI
Chartered membership of CIOB or RICS, ideally MCIOB or MRICS
Building Surveying experience
Project Management experience
Principal Designer experience
A flexible approach would be beneficial, with the ability to support the wider team across Building Surveying, Project Management and Principal Designer duties where required.
This position would suit someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards and is confident challenging poor workmanship or non-compliant construction.
