Job summary

Neath Port Talbot Council is seeking an experienced Clerk of Works to support the delivery of construction projects across council properties and facilities. You will supervise works on site, monitor quality and compliance, maintain records, and report progress to the Project Manager or Contract Administrator.

Ideal candidates will have substantial building construction experience, NEC contract knowledge, and formal qualifications (HND/HNC or degree or equivalent).

Qualifications

• Substantial practical knowledge and experience of building construction, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a large project team.
• Experience maintaining accurate records of work activities and project progress.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements and contractual responsibilities on construction sites.
• Experience carrying out duties of a Supervisor under the NEC contract.
• HND, HNC or degree in a relevant subject, or significant experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Supervising works undertaken by external and internal contractors.
• Checking that materials and workmanship comply with the approved drawings and specifications.
• Maintaining accurate project records as works progress.
• Reporting regularly to the Project Manager or Contract Administrator.
• Supporting the maintenance of high quality standards across construction activities.
• Fulfilling the role of Contract Supervisor under the NEC form of contract.
