Job summary

NHS Highland is seeking a self-motivated Nightshift A&E Clerical Officer to join the Emergency Department team. You will provide clerical and reception support, admit patients, handle telephone and reception duties, and maintain patient records.

The role requires good communication and organisational skills, keyboard proficiency, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Hours are 18.5 across a 3-week rolling rota.

An opportunity has arisen for a Nightshift A&E Clerical Officer to join the Emergency Department team.


We are looking for a self-motivated person with excellent communication and organisational skills to join the team.


Hours: 18.5 (2 nights per week) worked in accordance with a 3-week rolling rota pattern.


The post holder will provide clerical and reception support to Accident and Emergency department, including admitting patients, telephone and reception duties, maintaining patient records, data input and general administrative tasks. The ability to prioritise workload, work accurately and maintain confidentiality is essential.


Applicants Are Required To Have The Following


  • Good general standard of education.

  • Minimum of two years’ clerical/administrative experience.

  • Good communication and organisational skills.

  • Good keyboard skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office and databases.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
