Job summary

The Hathaway Academy in Grays, Essex, is seeking a Cleaning Operative to join our busy facilities team. This permanent, term-time role involves daily cleaning and sanitisation of the building and associated areas, with duties that support Health & Safety compliance and a clean, welcoming environment for students and staff.

You will work 20 hours per week across term time, Monday to Friday, split shifts 6.00am–8.00am and 3.00pm–5.00pm, with pay scale NJC 3 and pro-rata annual salary around

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar cleaning role with basic cleaning methods.
• Good literacy and numeracy to complete checks and records.
• Ability to work on your own initiative and within a team.

Responsibilities

• Undertake day-to-day cleaning and sanitisation of the building and facilities.
• Ensure Health & Safety compliance and maintain high cleanliness standards.

Actual Salary: £13,830 per annum / FTE Salary: £26,367 per annum (pending pay award)

The Hathaway Academy are looking to appoint an individual to undertake day to day cleaning and sanitisation of the building and facilities, always ensuring Health & Safety compliance. The successful candidate will join our academy which is dynamic and inspiring, creating a culture of outstanding success amongst our students.

To succeed, you will have previous experience in a similar environment with basic cleaning methods and the use of equipment. You will have a good standard of literacy and numeracy and the ability to work on your own initiative and within a team. We are keen to secure a positive Cleaning Operative who can make a telling contribution to our team. The department is part of a well led, mutually supportive cleaning team and the appointed candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues and will be supported by a Catering Supervisor, and strong SLT.
