Job summary

The Hathaway Academy in Grays, Essex, is hiring a Catering Assistant to support basic food preparation, help set up servery counters for lunch, and keep the kitchen and related areas clean. This term-time role offers part-year hours and a fixed salary scale, with opportunities to contribute to a dynamic, student-centered dining service.

You will work closely with a Catering Manager and a supportive team, bringing reliable timekeeping, good communication, and IT skills to operate tills and other

• Proven timekeeping and the ability to work as part of a team and independently.
• Excellent communication, organisational and customer care skills.
• Ability to operate IT equipment (e.g. tills) is essential.

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 27.5 hours per week / 39 weeks per year (Termtime only)

Scale: NJC 3 - 6

Actual Salary: £16,317 - £17,079 per annum / FTE Salary: £25,524- £26,717 per annum (pending pay award)

The Hathaway Academy are lookingto appoint an individual to assist with the basic preparation of food which mayinclude some cooking and assist with the setting up of servery counters for lunch and general cleaning of the kitchen and associated areas. The successfulcandidate will join an academy which is dynamic and inspiring; creating aculture of outstanding success amongst our students.

To succeed, you will have goodtimekeeping and the ability to work as part of a team and independently. You will have excellent communication, organisational and customer care skills,the ability to operate IT equipment e.g. tills is essential. We are keento secure a positive Catering Assistant who can make a telling contribution toour team. The department is part of a well led, mutually supportive Cateringteam and the appointed candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues andwill be supported by a Catering Manager and a strong SLT.
