Job summary

Action for Children in Aylesbury is seeking a part-time Cleaner to contribute to the Bucks Activity Project and The Grove. You will work 16 hours weekly, Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00, ensuring clean and safe communal areas, kitchens, bedrooms, and offices while managing stock and supplies.

The role values basic health and safety knowledge, reliable time management, and the ability to work on your own initiative. Training opportunities are provided by AfC.

Qualifications

• Experience in a cleaning role is desirable.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations (desirable).
• Good communication skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Clean designated premises, work and service areas as per the cleaning schedule.
• Maintain a stock of cleaning supplies and alert management when replenishment is needed.
• Ensure safe use and storage of cleaning materials in line with Health & Safety at Work regulations.
• Keep kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, and offices clean and tidy.

Salary: £25,949 per annum (£11,221 pro-rata) - £13.45 per hour

Location: Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire

Contract/Hours: Permanent, Part-time – 16 hours per week (hours to be worked between operational hours of Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:00)

A bit about the role

As a Cleaner, you’ll be working across both our Bucks Activity Project and The Grove to ensure that premises and work areas are cleaned to the service standard, leading to a clean, safe, secure and healthy space. You will be responsible for ensuring adequate stock of cleaning supplies, and the safe use and storage of them.

Duties will include cleaning all communal areas such as kitchens, bedrooms, and bathrooms, as well as activity spaces and offices. Keeping a very high standard of cleanliness whilst organising your own time and routine.

What you do could make a difference

• Undertaking cleaning of designated premises, work and service areas, as detailed in the cleaning schedule ensuring completion within the set timescales.


• Maintaining a stock of cleaning supplies necessary to complete tasks and where necessary, alert management to the need to replenish the stock.


• Being responsible for the safe use and storage of cleaning materials, in line with Health & Safety at Work Regulations and Action for Children policies.


• Maintaining a clean and tidy kitchen, including cleaning and safely packing away kitchen equipment, cutlery and utensils.

The Grove and Bucks Activity Project are part of Buckinghamshire's short breaks provision, supporting children and young people with disabilities, additional learning needs, and complex health needs to thrive.

The Grove provides residential short breaks in a safe, fun, and nurturing environment where young people can build confidence, develop friendships, and achieve their potential.

Bucks Activity Project delivers community-based short breaks across the county, offering opportunities for children and young people aged 0-19 to engage in enjoyable and meaningful activities.

Together, the services provide vital support to families while promoting positive outcomes for young people.
