Job summary

Action for Children in Norwich is seeking a Family Support Worker to provide essential one-to-one support and group sessions for families with children aged 0-5. You’ll conduct early help assessments, build parental confidence and deliver practical guidance on child development across South Norfolk and City districts.

Qualifications

• Level 2+ qualification in social care, health, education, or early years.
• Experience delivering one-to-one or group support to families with children 0-5.
• Experience working with children, young people and parents in a supportive, safeguarding context.
• Good IT skills and ability to record concise case notes.
• Willingness to travel across multiple districts; driving licence required.

• Conduct initial assessments of family needs to determine level of support.
• Create tailored support plans, set goals and identify strategies to address needs.
• Signpost additional resources and services as needed.

Role: Family Support Worker

Salary: £25,949per annum

Contract/Hours:Permanent, Full Time- 37 hours,

Location:Norwich, Norfolk (You will be expected to travel across South Norfolk and City districts).

A bit abouttherole

As a Family Support Worker,you’llbe at the heart of your community, providing essential one to one support andfacilitatingengaging group sessions for families with children agreed 0-5 years old.

You’llconduct early help assessments toidentifyspecific needs and implement goal-orientated support plans to build parental confidence, whilst offering practical guidance on child development and ensure those facing challenges get the right help at the right time.

• Supporting parents to achieve positive outcomes for the whole family and make sustainable changes.


• Conducting initial assessments of family’s needs todeterminetheappropriate levelof support and interventionrequired


• Creating tailored support plans, settinggoalsandidentifyingstrategies to address their specific needs


• Signpost available resources and services whereadditionalsupport may berequired


• Promptlyidentifyingsafeguarding concerns and to actin accordance withpolicy and procedures.

Let’stalk about you

• Level 2 or above qualification in social care, health, education, or early years.


• Experience of delivering one to one or group support to children and families using the early years foundation stage (or similar).


• Experience of working with children, youngpeopleand parents/carers in a supportive, non-judgemental approach, as well as an awareness of child protection issues and safeguarding.


• Good IT skills and ability to record concise,accuratecase notes.


• Ability to build safe and effective working relationships with vulnerable young children and adults.


• Ability and willingness to work in a variety of premises across the county (the role will berequiredto work across more than one district at times).


• Driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is essential, due to the geographical area you will cover and to fulfil the needs of the young people and families we support

About the Service

Norfolk's Early Childhood and Family Service (ECFS)offerssupport to children aged 0-5 years old and their families. The support is provided within group sessions, parenting programmes and through home visits. The service works in partnership with families, other key organisations and provides group activity sessions which cover a variety of topics such as parenting, improving mental health and keeping a child safe.
