Job summary

SAU 16 is seeking a dedicated teaching assistant to support certified staff in the classroom and non-instructional duties. The role involves reinforcing reading, language arts, mathematics, and computer skills with individual or small group work, and assisting with assessments and material preparation.

You will help supervise non-instructional areas and accompany students on field trips, contributing to a safe, inclusive learning environment and strong parent involvement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow written or oral instructions.
• Ability to use Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist staff in administration and correction of exercises, tests and assessments.
• Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for instructional materials.
• Keep records documenting student learning and performance.
• Support classroom behavioral management to maintain a safe environment.
• Supervise lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, and other non-instructional areas.
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Assist with parent contact to foster involvement.
• Support students with special needs to maximize inclusion.
