We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Cover Supervisors, Teaching Assistants, graduates, sports coaches, youth workers and other professionals who are confident working with young people.
You will take responsibility for classes in the absence of the usual teacher, delivering pre-planned work and ensuring pupils remain engaged, focused and well supported.
As a Classroom Cover & Learning Supervisor, you will:
Supervise classes in the absence of the class teacher
Deliver pre-prepared lessons and learning activities
Manage classroom behaviour positively and consistently
Build professional relationships with pupils
Ensure pupils remain engaged with their work
Support pupils with their learning where appropriate
Maintain a calm, safe and productive classroom environment
Follow school policies and procedures
Liaise with teaching and support staff
Provide feedback to teachers following lessons
You may have the opportunity to work across a variety of secondary schools and subjects, making this a great role for someone who enjoys working with different pupils and environments.

The ideal Cover Supervisor will have:
Experience working with children or young people
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Confidence managing a classroom
A calm, professional and consistent approach
The ability to establish clear boundaries
Good organisational skills
The ability to follow lesson plans and instructions
A genuine interest in supporting young people's education
Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or Teaching Assistant is advantageous, but not essential.
