Job summary

Driver Hire Sheffield are recruiting HGV Class 2 Drivers on behalf of our client, with excellent opportunities. This temp-to-perm role sits in a local Palletline delivery operation, with training provided to progress to a Cat C Steel Tramper Driver within a few months.

Initially, you'll carry out local deliveries and collections, and after training you'll move into steel groupage work. Pay ranges from £14.50 to £16.25 per hour, with night-out premiums once qualified and a company pension.

Qualifications

• A valid Category C (Class 2) driving licence.
• Digital Tachograph & CPC Card.
• Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious approach.
• Own transport, as the location may not be easily accessible.

Responsibilities

• Delivering and collecting palletised goods as directed by Traffic Office.
• Transporting steel products, including bars and flat plate, once trained.
• Ensuring loads are secured safely and correctly.
• Completing daily vehicle checks.
• Following all site health and safety procedures and wearing PPE.
• Maintaining a professional image when representing the company.
• Ensuring punctuality, reliability and a high standard of customer service.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a local delivery operation working within the Palletline network, with the opportunity to upskill to a Cat C Steel Tramper Driver within a few months. Full training will be provided to help you develop your skills and progress into the role.

The Role

Initially, you'll be carrying out local deliveries and collections as part of the Palletline network. Following training, you'll have the opportunity to progress into steel groupage work, transporting materials such as steel bars and flat plate.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering and collecting palletised goods as directed by the Traffic Office.
• Transporting steel products, including bars and flat plate, once trained.
• Ensuring loads are secured safely and correctly.
• Completing daily vehicle checks.
• Following all site health and safety procedures and wearing the required PPE.
• Maintaining a professional image when representing the company.
• Ensuring punctuality, reliability and a high standard of customer service.

What We're Looking For

• A valid Category C (Class 2) driving licence ( Ideal to have experience).
• Digital Tachograph & Valid CPC Card
• A reliable, punctual and safety-conscious approach.
• Own transport, as the location may not be easily accessible by public transport.

Previous steel or tramper experience would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided to the right candidates.

Hours of Work

Whilst working on Palletline deliveries, weekly duty time is typically between 40 and 50 hours. Hours may vary once you progress into the Steel Tramper Driver role, which will involve nights out and additional premium payments.

All hours are paid, excluding one daily 45-minute break.
