Job summary

The Recruitment Crowd are recruiting on behalf of our client in Newcastle for experienced HGV Class 1 (CAT C+E) drivers. Shifts are Mon-Fri with a 09:00 start. Pay £15.28 per hour PAYE, rising to £16.36 after 12 weeks.

Location: Newcastle, NE37. Job type: Ongoing, with duties including collections, deliveries, loading/unloading, and vehicle checks. Applicants must hold a Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement, DCPC and Digital Tachograph card, and have up to 6 points.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (category C+E).
• At least 12 months of proven experience driving the relevant vehicle.
• Valid and in date DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.
• No more than 6 points on licence (minor offences only).
• Full understanding of WTD legislation.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A safety-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Collections and deliveries - up to 20 stops max.
• Manual handling required for loading/unloading parcels at depots and customer locations.
• Collaborate with a team to ensure efficient operations and timely collections/deliveries.
• Operate devices and company software to update delivery status and communicate with the depot.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle and ensure roadworthiness.
• Adhere to relevant traffic laws, regulations and company policies for safety on the road.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch and logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
