Job summary

South Cambridge Council is seeking an experienced Class 2 Driver to join our bin collection team. The role involves operating a Class 2 vehicle to collect waste bins on a regular schedule, ensuring safety and compliance with waste management regulations.

Salary: £16.47 per hour (PAYE), with overtime paid at time and a half. Working hours: 06:00 am – 15:45 pm, Tuesday through Friday. Immediate start available; potential temp‑to‑perm placement.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 2 driving licence with a clean record.
• Valid CPC certificate.
• Experience as Class 2 Driver in domestic areas is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of road safety regulations.
• Excellent time‑management and organisational skills.
• Physical fitness to handle manual lifting and manoeuvring of bins.
• Effective communication and customer‑oriented approach.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Class 2 vehicle to collect waste bins from designated routes efficiently.

• Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, reporting any vehicle issues promptly.
• Safely manoeuvre the vehicle through various traffic and environmental conditions.

• Follow waste management regulations and guidelines to ensure proper disposal procedures.

Are you an experienced Class 2 Driver with a passion for efficient waste management? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Class 2 Driver for Bin Collection at South Cambridge Council.

SCDC are a leading waste management company dedicated to promoting sustainability and maintaining a clean environment. We take pride in providing reliable and efficient bin collection services to residential and commercial areas.

South Cambscouncil operate a 4 day week - Tuesday - Friday

· Working hours: 06:00am- 15:45pm

· £16.47ph PAYE - over time paid at time and half

· Potential Temp to Perm placement

As a Class 2 Driver for Bin Collection, you will be responsible for:

· Operating a Class 2 vehicle to collect waste bins from designated routes efficiently.

· Ensuring adherence to the collection schedule and maintaining timely pickups.

· Conducting pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle's safety and report any issues promptly.

· Safely manoeuvring the vehicle through various traffic and environmental conditions.

· Assisting with the loading and unloading of bins, using appropriate lifting and handling techniques.

· Maintaining accurate records of the collected waste

· Providing friendly and professional customer service, addressing inquiries and concerns when necessary.

· Following waste management regulations and guidelines to ensure proper disposal procedures.

To be considered for the Class 2 Driver - Bin Collection position, you should meet the following qualifications:

· Possess a valid Class 2 driving license with a clean record.

· Valid CPC certificate

· Demonstrated experience as a Class 2 Driver, preferably within domestic areas.

· Strong knowledge of road safety regulations

· Excellent time management and organisational skills.

· Physical fitness to handle manual lifting and manoeuvring of bins.

· Effective communication skills and a customer-oriented approach.
