Job summary

South Cambridge Council is seeking an experienced Class 2 Driver for bin collection to join our team. The role operates on a 4-day week (Tue–Fri) with early start times.

The working day runs from 06:00 to 15:45, and the position offers immediate start with a potential temp-to-perm pathway. Responsibilities include operating a Class 2 vehicle, adhering to schedules, performing vehicle inspections, handling bin loading, maintaining records, and delivering friendly customer service while following

Qualifications

• Valid Class 2 driving license with a clean record.
• Valid CPC certificate.
• Experience as a Class 2 Driver preferred within domestic areas.
• Strong knowledge of road safety regulations.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Physical fitness to handle manual lifting and manoeuvring of bins.
• Effective communication skills and a customer-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Class 2 vehicle to collect waste bins from designated routes efficiently.
• Adhere to the collection schedule and maintain timely pickups.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle's safety and report issues promptly.
• Safely manoeuvre the vehicle through various traffic and environmental conditions.
• Assist with the loading and unloading of bins, using appropriate lifting and handling techniques.
• Maintain accurate records of the collected waste.
• Provide friendly and professional customer service, addressing inquiries and concerns when necessary.
• Follow waste management regulations and guidelines to ensure proper disposal procedures.

£16.47 PAYE - over time paid at time and half
