Job summary

Gregory Group in Haverfordwest is seeking a HGV Driver to safely load/unload milk, deliver to regional sites across Wales, and operate from the Haverfordwest base on a 4on-4off schedule. You must hold a UK Class 1 CE licence with DCPC and a Digital Tachograph Card, and be comfortable with night-time hours and customer-facing work.

Night hours pay a premium and there are additional benefits including a referral incentive and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Holds a valid UK Class 1 CE licence.
• Has a current DCPC and a Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Experience with refrigerated trailers is advantageous but training provided.
• Customer service focus and professional brand representation.
• Able to work to tight schedules and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload cages of bottled milk from refrigerated vehicles.
• Complete deliveries to RDCs and stores across Wales, typically 4–5 drops per shift.
• Carry out manual handling duties when required, including handballing and self-tipping loads.
• Ensure goods are loaded and secured with straps, nets and other devices.
• Perform daily vehicle safety checks using company phone.
• Communicate with transport team to provide progress updates and meet customer expectations.
• Participate in regular training sessions to stay compliant with industry standards.

Location: Haverfordwest, West Wales

Shift: 4on 4off, 23:00hrs start time.

Competitive Salary: £17.50 per hour, based on an average of 39.38 hours per week. Plus for all hours worked between 21:00hrs & 04:00hrs, you will receive an additional £2.75 per hour. Up to £3,513pa TAX FREE night out allowance.

About The Role

• Safely load and unload cages of bottled milk from refrigerated vehicles, ensuring all products are handled securely and with care at every stage of the delivery process.
• Operate from the Haverfordwest base, completing deliveries to Regional Distribution Centres (RDCs) and stores across Wales, typically making 4-5 drops per shift to support an efficient and well-planned workday.
• Carry out manual handling duties as required, including handballing and self-tipping of loads.
• Ensure goods are loaded and secured correctly to prevent shifting or damage. Use straps, nets, and other securing devices as needed.
• Perform comprehensive daily vehicle safety checks using your company phone to maintain top-notch vehicle safety and reliability.
• Stay in regular communication with the transport team to provide updates on your progress and ensure our customers' expectations are met.
• Participate in regular training sessions to stay ahead with the latest industry standards and best practices.

Essential Skills And Qualifications

• You must hold a valid UK Class 1 CE licence, enabling you to operate articulated vehicles with confidence and professionalism.
• A current Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) and a Digital Tachograph Driver Card are essential to ensure compliance with legal and safety standards.
• Previous experience working with refrigerated trailers is advantageous, but not essential, as full training will be provided to get you up to speed.
