Job summary

Gregory Distribution is seeking a Class 1 Shunter to manage yard movements, trailer handling, and safe vehicle checks at our UK depot. You will work with the transport team to coordinate movements, assist with local deliveries, and participate in ongoing training to uphold our safety standards.

The role requires a valid UK Class 1 (CE) Driving Licence, Driver CPC, and a Digital Tachograph Card. Overtime rates apply, with enhanced pay on public holidays, and a comprehensive benefits package is

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid UK Class 1 (CE) Driving Licence.
• Possess a current Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Previous tug experience is advantageous; however, full training will be provided.
• Strong geographical knowledge and route-planning awareness.
• Able to work efficiently to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Job description

As a Class 1 Shunter, you will:

• Shunt, load, and unload trailers across the depot, ensuring all units are positioned safely and accurately within designated bays and yard locations.
• Assist with day‑to‑day yard operations, helping to maintain a safe, efficient, and well‑organised working environment.
• Conduct daily vehicle safety checks using company‑issued technology, ensuring vehicles remain compliant, roadworthy, and ready for operation.
• Work closely with the transport team, providing clear and timely updates on trailer movements, vehicle checks, load status, and operational progress.
• Carry out local collections and deliveries when required, delivering a professional and reliable service.
• Take part in ongoing training and development to maintain industry knowledge, enhance skills, and stay aligned with company procedures.
• Complete shunter training and operate in line with company standards, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient yard movements at all times.
  Must hold a valid UK Class 1 (CE) Driving Licence.

  Excellent Earning Potential: £18.00 per hour, equating to £36,855 per annum, based on 11.25-hour shifts. In addition, you’ll benefit from a £2.75 per hour night premium for all hours worked between 21:00hrs and 04:00hrs, boosting your earnings further.
