Job summary

Evans Transport Limited is seeking an experienced HGV Class 1 driver for our Brick and Block Haulage department. Roles include national travel from multiple depots with nights out.

You will operate Artic/Lorry & Drag vehicles, ensuring safety, punctual deliveries, and compliance with tachograph rules. The position offers competitive pay, 22 days leave plus bank holidays, pension, PPE, health insurance, ongoing CPC training, and other staff benefits.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with valid CPC and tachograph.
• Sound geographical knowledge of UK; ability to use a road atlas.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Presentable with a positive attitude.
• HIAB loader experience required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver to customers in a professional and friendly manner.
• Plan direct, truck-friendly routes.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and keep the vehicle roadworthy.
• Comply with tachograph rules and working time directives.
• Load/unload goods and maintain safe handling practices.
• Capture PODs accurately and report issues promptly.
• Support colleagues and maintain a safe, clean work environment.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced HGV Class 1 driver to join our Brick and Block Haulage department. Drivers will be expected to travel around the country to deliver customer goods in a safe an professional manner. The position is available from our Bideford, Exeter, Wrangaton and Caldicot depots. This is for a Artic or Lorry and Drag type vehicle and includes nights out.

Key Skill Requirements for driver

• Deliver customers good in a professional and friendly manner
• Ensure the most direct truck friendly route is taken
• Ensure the vehicle is safe and fit to be on the road by carrying out adequate daily checks.
• Work within the tachograph and working time directive laws
• Ensure all PODs are captured accurately
• Able to work on own initiative and part of a team
• Report any issues effectively and promptly to management
• Be able to work to a productive nature.
• Able to make confident decisions and manage responsibilities effectively.
• Operate mobile plant safely and responsibly, completing daily checks and reporting defects.
• Load customers safely and efficiently.
• Operate the sand plant efficiently, maintaining a consistent feed.
• Complete daily checks and assist with repairs and maintenance.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and site safety.
• Support staff and help maintain a positive working environment.

Qualifications and Skills For driver

• Full driving licence In date driver CPC and digital tachograph
• Sound geographical knowledge of UK and be able to use a road atlas.
• Posses good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Have a reason able level of fitness Presentable, good attitude and polite.
• HIAB Lorry loader experience required
• Netting experience of benefit but not essential
