Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd is seeking a HGV Driver based in Coalville. You will perform long-distance trunking, pallet network trunking, multi-drop customer deliveries, and operate curtain-sided trailers with flexibility for varying workloads.

You will drive curtain-sided and refrigerated vehicles, conduct daily inspections, report issues, and stay in touch with the transport team for real-time updates. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• UK Class 1 CE licence is essential.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card required.
• Experience delivering loads to client sites is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Long-distance trunking, pallet network trunking, and multi-drop deliveries.
• Handle curtain-sided and refrigerated vehicles, ensure loading and temperature control where applicable.
• Daily vehicle inspections and prompt defect reporting.
• Communicate with transport coordination for real-time updates.
• Attend health and safety and other training sessions.

About The Role

• Perform a wide range of transport duties including long-distance trunking, pallet network trunking, multi-drop customer deliveries, and handling curtain-sided trailers. Flexibility is essential to adapt to varying workloads and customer requirements.
• Provide transportation services for multiple clients operating from the depot, ensuring each customer's specific handling and delivery requirements are met with professionalism and care.
• Operate both curtain-sided and refrigerated vehicles as required, ensuring correct loading, temperature control (where applicable), and secure transportation of goods.
• Taking advantage of opportunities to gain additional certifications, including LST (Longer Semi-Trailer) during your employment.
• Conduct thorough daily vehicle inspections using the company-issued mobile device, reporting any defects or issues promptly in line with company policy and legal requirements.
• Maintain communication with the transport coordination team to provide real-time updates on delivery progress, delays, or issues. Support the team in managing customer expectations and ensuring high service standards.
• Attend all scheduled training sessions, including health and safety, compliance, and professional development courses, to maintain up-to-date knowledge and adhere to industry best practices.

Essential Skills And Qualifications

• Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Experience of delivering loads directly to client sites is advantageous.
• Ability to work to deadlines.
• Confident, polite, and a team player.
• Good geographical knowledge.
• Fit, flexible, hardworking, and self-motivated.
