Job summary

Gregory Distribution is seeking a Class 1 Driver to move palletised freight across our network with a strong focus on safety and customer service.

You will perform daily vehicle checks, manage paperwork and freight verification, and maintain effective communication with the Transport Team while representing the company at customer sites and hubs.

Qualifications

• Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Experience of delivering loads directly to client sites is advantageous.
• Passionate about providing excellent customer service.
• Ability to work to deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks before departure and at end of shift.
• Accurately manage paperwork, scanning, and freight verification.
• Maintain clear communication with the Transport Team and report issues.
• Represent Gregory Distribution professionally at customer sites, depots and hubs.
• Work as part of a double-manned crew when required and support training.

Job description

As a Class 1 Driver, you will play a key role in the safe, professional, and efficient movement of palletised freight across our network. Your responsibilities will include:

• Complete trunking of palletised freight between depots and pallet network hubs on planned routes.
• Ensure all freight is correctly loaded, secured, and restrained using straps, nets, and appropriate equipment in line with network standards.
• Work as part of a double-manned crew when required, supporting operational needs, training activities, route familiarisation, and network requirements.
• Be prepared to occasionally work with another team member in the vehicle, supporting training, familiarisation, or operational requirements.
• Carry out thorough daily vehicle safety checks, both pre-departure and end of shift, using your company device to maintain full compliance.
• Accurately manage all paperwork, scanning, and freight verification to support smooth hub and depot operations.
• Maintain clear and regular communication with the Transport Team, providing updates, reporting issues, and helping manage customer expectations.
• Represent the business professionally at customer sites, depots, and network hubs at all times.
• Participate in ongoing training and development, staying up to date with industry standards and best practices.
• Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.

• Competitive Salary: Up to £50,440pa this includes night pay.
• Shift Hours: Monday to Friday. Start time is c18:00pm.
