Job summary

GXO Logistics Ltd in Gateshead is seeking a Class 1 Driver on a full-time permanent basis to join our North operations. You will deliver full loads, assist with shunting, perform trailer swaps, and maintain high hygiene and compliance standards across depots and vehicles.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with C+E category and CPC.
• Less than six points on licence; no disqualifying endorsements.
• Up-to-date Digital Tachograph required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver full loads to locations across the North.
• Support shunting between factory and warehouse; ensure smooth movements.
• Carry out trailer swap operations in Wakefield following safety procedures.
• Maintain high hygiene and housekeeping across depot, vehicle and trailer.
• Complete paperwork accurately within required timeframes.

You will be working on a full-time, permanent position, Any 5 out of 7, Sunday to Thursday with start times between 04:00 and 06:00.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

Deliver full loads to various locations across the North, always ensuring safe and efficient transport

Support shunting operations between the factory and warehouse, keeping site movements running smoothly

Carry out trailer swap operations in Wakefield, following all safety and compliance procedures

Maintain the highest levels of hygiene and housekeeping across the depot, vehicle, and assigned trailer

Conduct regular vehicle inspections for defects, damage, or wear and tear, reporting any issues promptly

Accurately complete all required paperwork and documentation within set timeframes, ensuring full compliance with regulations and operational standards

What you need to succeed at GXO:

A full UK driving licence with C+E category

Less than six points on your licence (as well as no DD, DR, DG, BA, CD, AC, LC or TT endorsements)

An up-to-date CPC and Digital Tachograph

A positive attitude, excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently
