GXO Logistics, Inc. in Gateshead is seeking a Class 1 Driver to join our team. You will deliver full loads across the North, support shunting between the factory and warehouse, and perform trailer swaps safely.

This full-time, permanent role offers early starts (04:00–06:00) and a Sunday–Thursday pattern, with pay at £15.09 per hour plus overtime, holiday pay, and a company pension. Career development opportunities are available in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• A full UK driving licence with C+E category.
• Less than six points on your licence and no disqualifying endorsements (DD, DR, DG, BA, CD, AC, LC, TT).
• An up‑to‑date CPC and Digital Tachograph.
• A positive attitude, excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Deliver full loads to various locations across the North, ensuring safe and efficient transport.
• Support shunting operations between the factory and warehouse, keeping site movements running smoothly.
• Carry out trailer swap operations in Wakefield, following all safety and compliance procedures.
• Maintain hygiene and housekeeping across the depot, vehicle, and trailer.
• Perform regular vehicle inspections and report issues promptly.
• Complete required paperwork within set timeframes and ensure compliance with regulations.

You will be working on a full‑time, permanent position, Any 5 out of 7, Sunday to Thursday with start times between 04:00 and 06:00.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Deliver full loads to various locations across the North, always ensuring safe and efficient transport
• Support shunting operations between the factory and warehouse, keeping site movements running smoothly
• Carry out trailer swap operations in Wakefield, following all safety and compliance procedures
• Maintain the highest levels of hygiene and housekeeping across the depot, vehicle, and assigned trailer
• Conduct regular vehicle inspections for defects, damage, or wear and tear, reporting any issues promptly
• Accurately complete all required paperwork and documentation within set timeframes, ensuring full compliance with regulations and operational standards

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• A full UK driving licence with C+E category
