Job summary

Gregory Distribution is seeking a Class 1 Day Driver based in Newport to safely operate curtain-sided trailers delivering cardboard products across South Wales and the South West. You will load, secure goods, perform daily vehicle checks, and stay in contact with the transport team to keep customers happy.

The role requires a UK Class 1 CE Licence, DCPC card, and a strong focus on customer service, punctuality, and teamwork. Training and weekend-rate opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Passionate about providing excellent customer service.
• Ability to work to deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate a curtain-sided trailer and deliver cardboard products to customer sites across South Wales and the South West.
• Load and secure goods to prevent shifting or damage using straps, nets and other securing devices.
• Perform comprehensive daily vehicle safety checks and report via company phone to maintain vehicle safety and reliability.
• Stay in regular contact with the transport team to provide progress updates and meet customer expectations.
• Participate in regular training sessions to stay up-to-date with industry standards and best practices.

About the Role

As a Class 1 Day Driver, you will: Safely and efficiently operate a curtain-sided trailer, delivering cardboard products to customer sites across South Wales and the South West. Ensure goods are loaded and secured correctly to prevent shifting or damage. Use straps, nets, and other securing devices as needed. Perform comprehensive daily vehicle safety checks using your company phone to maintain top-notch vehicle safety and reliability. Stay in regular communication with the transport team to provide updates on your progress and ensure our customers' expectations are met. Participate in regular training sessions to stay ahead with the latest industry standards and best practices.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence. Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card., Passionate about providing excellent customer service, Ability to work to deadlines. Confident, polite, and a team player. Good geographical knowledge. Fit, flexible, hardworking, and self-motivated.
