Job summary

Turners (Soham) Ltd is recruiting Class 1 Container Drivers in Peterborough, PE7 3HH. You will represent a large, privately owned transport company and work closely with planning and training teams to deliver reliable, customer‑focused service.

Flexibility with start/finish times and occasional nights out may be required. We welcome experienced drivers and those eager to learn, with a modern, well‑maintained fleet and pension support.

Qualifications

• Full HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence held for at least 1 year.
• Driver CPC and Tacho Card held and valid for driving duties.
• Minimum 35 hours CPC required and up-to-date knowledge.
• Strong written and spoken English essential for communication.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to schedule flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Drive Class 1 container vehicles in Peterborough area.
• Adhere to tachograph, working time directive and safety rules.
• Maintain professional conduct and customer service standards.

Job description

Turners (Soham) Ltd is the UK's largest privately owned transport Company. We are looking to recruit Class 1 Container Drivers in Peterborough, PE7 3HH.

As a professional driver working for Turners Container Division, you will be required to demonstrate skill, professionalism and excellent customer service.

Working for our container division you will develop close working relationships with your planning and training team, alongside other drivers and staff members in a close knit organisation that strives to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for all.

The haulage industry is one of varying hours and timings, and will require potential candidates to be flexible in their approach to start and finish times. We have day shifts available (Shift patterns vary from depot to depot). Shift lengths do vary but you will be expected to comply with the Tachograph & Working Time Directive regulations at all times. Occasional nights out maybe required for day drivers due to unforeseen circumstances.

As a large and ever expanding company, Turners can take on new drivers with limited experience. All we ask is you are willing and keen to learn, growing our driving crew with knowledgeable and competent members. We are always keen to take on experienced drivers and recognize the knowledge and strengths you can bring to the organisation.

Successful applicants MUST have the following:

• Full HGV Class 1 (C + E) licence (1 year Preferred)
• Driver CPC & Tacho Card
• 35 hours CPC
• Container experience (preferred)
• Good knowledge of written and spoken English
• (No test drives can take place without these documents and Minimum PPE of Safety Boots)
