Job summary

Fawkes & Reece are recruiting an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join an established civil engineering contractor on a project in Babraham, Cambridge.

You will oversee the commercial and financial management of civil engineering projects, working with the site team to keep costs within budget and ensure successful delivery.

This full-time, permanent role offers the opportunity to contribute to major civil works and develop expertise in BOQs, cost reporting, and procurement.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, groundworks or infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of cost control, cost planning and commercial management.
• Experience preparing BOQs and cost reports.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a wider project team.
• Relevant Quantity Surveying or Construction Management qualification.
• RICS membership would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage project costs from initial estimates through to final accounts
• Prepare and manage Bills of Quantities (BOQs)
• Cost planning, forecasting and reporting
• Monitor project expenditure and identify commercial risks
• Manage valuations, variations and subcontractor accounts
• Work closely with project and site teams to ensure commercial targets are achieved
• Produce accurate cost reports and commercial updates
• Assist with procurement and subcontractor negotiations
