Job description
Overview

The Civils Foreman will have a strong civils and supporting site management background with the relevant qualifications and experience. The role itself will support the operations team in the delivery of construction projects and will report to the Operations Manager.

Responsibilities
  • To manage the civils team effectively to ensure the successful completion of projects/work undertaken by G2 Energy - Mitie Power & Grid.
  • To provide assistance to the Site Manager(s) as required.
  • Coordinate construction tasks according to priorities and plans.
  • Site set up and organisation of site welfare and signage set up.
  • Marking out – digging trenches, excavations for foundations and drainage.
  • Erecting formwork for basic structures and setting/shuttering to hold concrete in place.
  • Steel fixing – bending and fixing bars used to reinforce basic concrete structures.
  • Steel piling – fixing steel sheets to form temporary retaining walls for excavation work.
  • Concreting – mixing and pouring concrete and curing to make foundations, beams or floors.
  • Road work – concreting, laying kerbs, paving and resurfacing.
  • Drainage, kerbs, slabs, edgings, and all other associated tasks.
  • Install underground earthing systems.
  • Install ducting to take electrical cabling.
  • Work alongside skilled tradespeople, helping with every aspect of the building process.
  • Operate hand machinery such as drills, pumps and compressors.
  • Ensure safety precautions and quality standards are met.
  • Ensure projects are delivered to exceed the client’s expectations, to agreed timescales and returning the expected profitability.
  • Operate site construction vehicles as required.
  • Allocate general and daily responsibilities; ensure manpower and resources are adequate.
  • Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budget.
  • Resolve problems when they arise.
  • Report on progress to project managers, designers, etc.
  • Maintain team competency by attending courses, familiarisation, etc., as required.
  • Assist the Senior Site Manager and Project Managers in setting up/stripping out sites/projects upon mobilisation (welfare provision, security, parking, etc.).
