Job summary

Amey is offering a Civil Engineer Summer Placement in Perth within the Transport Infrastructure Business Unit. Join the NMC NE team for 8–12 weeks starting July 2027, with a 40-hour week and £12.71 per hour.

You'll gain practical experience, support data collation, inspections, and project administration, and have the chance to apply for our Graduate Pathway after studies. Applicants should be studying Civil Engineering and hold or be working toward a UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Currently studying for a degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Full UK driving licence or working towards obtaining one.
• Proficient in MS Office and basic CAD tools; able to work in technical teams.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a focus on quality.

Responsibilities

• Collate data accurately for project controls and reporting.
• Carry out inspections in line with Well-Maintained Highways Code of General Practice.
• Ensure data quality and contract compliance for projects.
• Follow health and safety legislation and raise concerns when needed.
• Coordinate with third-party claims teams and prepa­re evidence for defence.
• Assist with inspections programme, investigations and project admin.
• Record time in project control systems and liaise with OCR/staff.
• Prepare reports and provide procedural advice to stakeholders.
