Job summary

Amey is offering a Summer Placement in Civil Engineering, based in Motherwell or Edinburgh, with a starting pro rata salary of £26,582.20 and a 40-hour week. Start date in June/July 2027.

You will join the Highways & Transportation Practice within the Engineering Business and work closely with engineers on major highway projects across the UK. Ideal candidates are currently studying a Civil/Structural Engineering degree, hold a full UK driving licence, and are eager to develop practical skills

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn and enthusiasm for engineering and infrastructure.
• Currently studying a Civil/ Structural Engineering Degree.
• A Full UK driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to technical reports, design proposals, and client presentations.
• Support the delivery of engineering projects for national and local highways.
• Contribute to asset management strategies and lifecycle planning.
• Use industry-standard software and tools to model and analyse options/performance.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including structural, geotechnical, environmental, and transport engineers.
• Develop innovative solutions and designs that comply with industry standards and guidelines.
• Deliver robust designs to ensure safe, efficient management of assets.
