Job summary

Amey in Glasgow is offering a Civil Engineer Summer Intern position in the NMC SW team. Salary is £12.71 per hour, with a 40-hour week, based at 150 Polmadie Road, Glasgow. Start date July 2027. The 8–12 week internship provides insight into Amey and a potential graduate pathway after studies.

You will gain experience across inspections, data management, contract compliance, and project support while contributing to diverse UK road projects.

Qualifications

• Currently studying Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and effective collation of data.
• Carry out inspections per Well-Maintained Highways guidance.
• Ensure contract compliance on data quality management issues.
• Comply with health and safety legislation.
• Communicate with third-party claims team to provide evidence in defence of claims.
• Assist with establishment and implementation of a programme of inspections.
• Assist with project administration as required.
• Record time accurately in project control systems.
• Liaise with the OCR and staff to ensure planning, operations and works are completed on time.
• Assist with preparation of reports and documents as necessary.
• Provide accurate advice on procedures.

Education

Civil Engineering degree (in progress) or equivalent
