Job summary

Amey invites applications for a Civil Engineering Summer Placement with the NMC SW team in Glasgow. The role is based at 150 Polmadie Road and runs 8–12 weeks from July 2027, with a 40-hour week (Mon–Fri, 9:00–17:00).

Salary is 12.71 per hour, subject to review, and there is potential to apply for our Graduate Pathway after completing your studies. You will gain hands-on experience, contribute to data collation, inspections, and project administration while working in a supportive team within

Qualifications

• Currently studying for a degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Willing to undertake random drug and alcohol testing.
• Eligibility for summer placement in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and effective collation of data.
• Carry out inspections in accordance with the Well-Maintained Highways Code of General Practice.
• Ensure contract compliance on data quality management issues.
• Comply with the relevant health and safety legislation.
• Communicate with the third-party claims team to provide evidence in defence of claims.
• Assist with the establishment and implementation of a programme of inspections and investigations.
• Assist with project administration as required.
• Record time accurately in project control systems.
• Liaise with OCR and staff to ensure planning, operations and works are completed on time.
• Assist with the preparation of reports and documents as necessary.
• Provide accurate advice to relevant parties on procedures.
